The Workplace Education and Literacy Coalition of Mohave County (WELCOME)
is an IRS qualified 501(c)3 charitable organization that is comprised of
literacy organizations in your community and throughout the Mohave County.
The member organizations are the county's three Literacy Councils, the
Mohave Community College Libraries, the Mohave Community College Foundation
Studies Centers, the Mohave County Library District, WACOG Head Start, the
Mohave County Probation Department, and Northern Arizona University campuses in
Mohave County as its business partners. The purpose
of the coalition is to coordinate the mutual efforts of member organizations
as they work to spread the word about literacy opportunities. Our target
audience includes citizens searching for a way to improve their literacy
skills and volunteers eager to provide literacy services in their communities.
Since 1994, WELCOME has conducted numerous literacy projects such as providing
book bags for literacy coalition tutors and students, reading-readiness kits
to Head Start students, GED Study workbooks to adult students, workshops,
and the promotion of literacy at fairs, festivals, and other community events.
In 2002 we initiated the GED study book project. As a result
of the business community's generous contributions, we were able to purchase 160
GED study books that were distributed through 30 sites to students working toward
their GED. WELCOME continues to get requests for more workbooks, but our supply
has run out. In order to purchase and distribute more GED workbooks, as well
as continue the other activities listed above, WELCOME is once again asking
for your assistance.
WELCOME will be pleased to designate your tax-deductible
donation toward the project and the community you specify. We hope you
will consider this request to assist in our many worthwhile efforts.
